By unanimous vote, the Scott County Board of Education appointed Dr. Kevin F. Hub as Superintendent of Scott County Schools effective July 1, 2016.  Dr. Hub currently serves as Superintendent of Logan County Schools.  His tenure includes 22 years in education previously serving as Assistant Superintendent and Chief Operating Officer for Madison County Schools.  Dr. Hub taught geography and mathematics at Madison Central High School where he also served as Assistant Principal.  He replaces Superintendent Patricia Putty who retires effective June 30, 2016.

During Superintendent Putty’s eight year tenure, Scott County schools have cultivated a learning environment focused on students through a spirit of collaboration.  The district has maintained a Proficient ranking on state assessments while increasing college and career readiness scores.  Advanced Placement enrollment and qualifying scores have doubled with 21 advanced course offerings at Scott County High School where students continually exceed both state and national averages on the ACT.  Scott County Schools was named an Innovative School District and has twice received the national Energy Star Partner of the Year Award.

With a student enrollment of nearly 10,000 and more than 1100 employees, Scott County Schools is a growth district in the planning stages to build a second high school.  More than 20 highly qualified individuals applied for the position of Superintendent.  Board Chair Robert H. Conway acknowledged the outstanding work of the district’s Superintendent Screening Committee and the diligence of fellow board members in selecting the best candidate for the position.  Conway believes Dr. Hub has a unique skill set that is a perfect fit for Scott County Schools.

Dr. Hub is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Environmental Geography.  He is a Desert Storm veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star medal and the Army Commendation medal with “V” device for Valor. Superintendent Hub holds a Masters of Arts in Education from Eastern Kentucky University and earned his Doctorate in Education from Spalding University.  He and wife Nanette have three children.  We welcome Dr. Kevin Hub, new Superintendent of Scott County Schools.
